Classes at the Louisville Koshin-ha are designed to bring out the best in you.

We train in traditional martial arts - not sport karate. You won't see any back flips, jump-spinning flying kicks, or any of the other acrobatic maneuvers so popular in today's sport competitions performed in our dojo. That's because we don't stress competition.

We train in a controlled, fun, environment with the ultimate goal being to make you a better person inside and out.

Classes begin with a light warm-up of stretching and basic physical fitness drills, and progress into floor exercises and finally kata (single-person forms) - we do a lot of kata.

At first the skills will be very simple and easy to learn. Then, as you progress and your abilities develop, you will begin to learn more advanced skills. Your instructors guide you class by class, through sets of Karate movements designed to enhance body tone, physical fitness, and self-defense skills. We also train in knife, gun, and defense against multiple attackers.

And of course, we always train with safety in mind.
